Are you a business owner trying to figure out where to set up your future WordPress blog or website? Below are some installation options. We’ve taken the time to list some pro’s and con’s with each to help you get a better idea of which option may fit your needs best.
- WordPress.com Free WordPress. If you are in a hurry you can go to WordPress.com and sign up for a free WordPress blog. It has limited functions but is free. You can upgrade with more features (and a price) if you need more.
- Pro – Fast, Free, Basic
- Con – Maybe too basic. Hard to migrate later if you want your own site. Additional features are NOT FREE!
- WordPress.org – Install it yourself (still free). You can download the latest release and install it on your website. This option provides the maximum flexibility and features, but does require some “geekiness” on your part. You can also hire this out. SonicWebTech and the RightStart Program both provide a number of WordPress installations packages.
- Pro – You get exactly what you want, no limitations.
- Con – It will cost you, either time or money. You also need a server to install the WordPress software onto.
- Hosting Service WordPress Installs – Many hosting services (Earthlink, Yahoo!, GoDaddy, ect.) have automatic WordPress installs as part of their services. In some cases these services are part of your service, and in other cases it might be an enhancement service.
- Pro – Easy and convenient.
- Con – May not be latest version. It will cost you either time or money to get up and running. Lack of version control may cause trouble with security and maintenance down the road – watch out!
- RightStart Wordpress Website Packages – We have taken the thinking out of getting your WordPress site up and running. We offer the latest releases with the support and flexibility of having your own site.
- Pro – Easy and fast. The latest releases with basic utility plugins automatically installed.
- Con – Sorry, it is not free, but we offer affordable payment options!
- SonicSpider Installation and Customization Services – Don’t have the time or “geekiness” to do it yourself, but you need a professional custom WordPress website or blog with the latest social media and SEO features, plus so much more!
- Pro – You get what every you can imagine.
- Con– Does require a budget that matches your dreams.
